    Job Overview

    The Payroll Lead reports to and takes direction from the Payroll Supervisor.  The primary responsibility of a Payroll Lead is to collect, verify, and process all information related to the administration of employee payroll. The Payroll Lead will also provide general administrative support.

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Maintains attendance, regular time, overtime, and leave records in order to calculate pay and benefits entitlements for our partner companies in Canada and the United States
    • Enters time sheets into computerized system and calculates safety bonuses and other special payments or bonuses
    • Enters, maintains, and audits employee changes to ensure payroll calculations are accurate
    • Responds to the overall payroll activities
    • Understanding and compliance of relevant provincial and state taxes.
    • Investigate; trouble shoot and problem solve end user questions and issues
    • Reconciles payroll to ensure total hours are reconciled to total expected hours
    • Ensures employee time is entered according to the collective agreement.

     

    Qualifications:

    • A minimum of three years’ experience in a lead payroll position
    • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) preferred, but not required with proper experience
    • Experience with CMIC is an asset
    • Experience and knowledge of Union Agreements and how they relate to jobs and employees is an asset
    • High attention to detail and accuracy
    • Experience in MS Office programs
    • Able to maintain internal controls
    • Ability to manage priorities
    • Manages relationships with internal and external partners.
