    Title: Assistant Superintendent

    Reports to: Superintendent

    Location: Burnaby, BC

    We are looking for an Assistant Superintendent who can execute and deliver quality projects on time and on budget.  Reporting to the Site Superintendent, you will be responsible for providing supervision, coordination and scheduling of construction activities on specific scopes of work and for assisting the Senior Superintendent with overall supervision of the project construction site.

     

    Key Roles/Responsibilities: 

    • Assist with coordination and supervision of all construction activities on site;
    • Ensure project is constructed in compliance with drawings, specifications, project schedule and budget;
    • Along with Superintendent & Project Manager, maintain construction schedule and identify/resolve problems as necessary and in a timely manner;
    • Establish and maintain positive relationships with the client, consultants, subcontractors, public and project team;
    • Ensure subcontractors comply with project master schedule;
    • Utilize project master schedule to create detailed schedules for subcontractor use;
    • Develop recovery strategies when project schedule or budgets are in jeopardy;
    • Review and update schedule, cost forecast and cash flow with Project Manager;
    • Provide leadership to peers ensuring all site staff are adhering to the company safety culture;
    • Maintain appropriate field documentation including safety records, daily progress reports, rental records, logs etc.;
    • Organize weekly subcontractor meetings;
    • Maintain an organized, safe project site including construction office;
    • Assist with supervision, mentorship, coaching and training of project personnel;
    • Represent Scott Construction at company-sponsored and industry events;
    • Maintain awareness of current marketplace and trends to gain and maintain our competitive advantage and develop effective bid strategies;

    Experience & Qualifications:

    • Education to include a technical college diploma or equivalent combination of technical training and/or related experience;
    • At least 5 years previous supervisory and construction experience working on high-rise residential, commercial, institutional and/or concrete projects with a spend of at least $20 million;
    • Experience as a Carpenter an asset;
    • Demonstrated ability to successfully supervise construction projects;
    • The proven ability to effectively manage field staff;
    • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction such as; technology, equipment, methods, trade agreements and jurisdiction, engineering, cost control, scheduling and safety requirements;
    • Proven creative problem solving skills;
    • Excellent communication, organizational and supervisory skills;
    • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook;
    • Experience using Procore is an asset;
    • Excellent communication skills (oral, written, presentations), including the ability to successfully translate technical information to non-technical individuals;
    • Exemplary leadership skills, including strong teambuilding capabilities;
    • Solid understanding of specifications, construction methods and procedure;
    • Good presentation skills;
    • Excellent relationship building skills; and
    • Proven integrity when dealing with Clients, Trades and Consultants.
